submission form by default. If you prefer to introduce the
information manually select the option Use the Auto-Fill button
for each search engine.
Step 2
- Create a New Project
The
first step to begin promoting your website is to create a New
Project. Each project represents a web page. Start creating a
project for your main web page.
From the Top Menu Bar select Project Settings -> New
and enter your project's name such us "mydomain" and a
short description to remember the project's content.
Enter the project's information on the General,
Extra and Variants of Titles and Descriptions
tabs.

Enter your web page URL, beginning with http://
Click on the Extract Settings from
Meta Tags button to import the title, description and keywords directly
from your meta tags. You should enter all the required information,
including a
real web promotion email address. Some search
engines will not list your web page if you do not provide your
contact information or a real email address. The information you
have entered on the
title, description and
keywords will be submitted to the search engines and directories.
Check this information carefully to avoid submission errors.
Select the category that best describes your website
and click on the Select Category button.
Enter the Reciprocal Link URL where you are
planning to include the reciprocal links. Some directories will not
list your web page if you do not include a back link. Click on

titles and descriptions using different keywords and length such us
a very short title, short description, etc. By using alternative
titles and descriptions, directories will link to your website using
different anchor texts (the text on the link) and your semiautomatic
submissions will look different and more natural, improving
the visibility of your web page by different keywords.

Once you have entered all the project information save the
project clicking on the Save button.
You can make a backup of your projects selecting
Project Settings -> Backup Projects. Save the backup.pdz
file on a folder such us

the projects from the Project Settings -> Restore
Projects option.
The Keywords Suggestion Tools module includes three different
options for researching good keywords for your web promotion
campaign:
Keyword Builder, Keyword Generator and Keyword
Competitors. These three tools help you to identify new keyword phrases based on a keyword you enter.
Choosing the right keywords is one of the most important steps of
your web promotion campaign. The new keywords
can be easily added to the project.
The
Keyword Builder
uses the Google Suggestion tool to obtain new keyword ideas. First
select your Google source and enter keywords
(word combinations and
phrases)
highly related with your web site content. Click on the
Get Keyword Ideas
button and a list of relevant keywords will be generated, sorted by
relevance and displaying the number of searches.
Click on the
Extract Keywords
button
located at the top of the keyword builder (by the Google source drop
down menu) to import all the relevant keywords
to
the
Suggest
Keywords
area.
You can select each of these new keywords or select all of them. One
word keywords are too generic.
Start
with very targeted key phrases .
Try to use two or three word
phrases that are more specific and descriptive.
The
Collected Keywords
area shows the final list of good keywords to be added to the
project. You can add to this list
plural and singular
variations, synonyms and serial or product numbers.
Finally, click on the
Add to Project
button to add the new keywords to your project.

You should optimize different web pages of your website for
different key phrases. It is better to optimize a web page for a
single relevant key phrase than trying to optimize a web page for
multiple key phrases.
The option Keyword Generator helps you to create long and
very targeted keywords called long tail keywords. These
keywords have a very low volume of searches but are very specific
and target potential customers. Enter a list of keywords on the
three areas and Active WebTraffic will generate different keyword
combinations based on the keywords you have entered. These new multi
word phrases are much easier to rank well and tend to have a high
conversion rate.
Click on Generate, the results will be displayed and you can
add them to the project.

The tool
Keyword Competitors
analyzes your competitor's web page and extracts
the keywords they are using to obtain new good keywords that you may
have not previously noticed.
Once you have created the project, researched and selected good
keywords, you have to analyze and optimize your web page using these
keywords on your web page content to obtain a high ranking on search
engines by these terms. If you do not optimize your web pages you
will never get high search engine rankings.
Step 3 -
Analyze and Optimize your Web Page
From the Analyze Website
button you have access to the optimization tools included on
Active WebTraffic: Keyword Density
Analyzer (KDA), Spider Page Analyzer (SPA),
Page Advisor, Broken Link Checker and SEO Analyzer.
These tools have a very easy-to-use and intuitive
interface. Enter your web page URL and key phrases and Active WebTraffic will analyze
your web page HTML code and will display the results, giving you
advice on how you can improve your web site. Making a few changes
and solving web page errors you can increase your search engine
rankings.
For more information about these optimization tools please visit our
features section.
Select Utilities to access to the
W3C HTML Validator, Meta Tag Generator, HTML Editor, FTP
Uploader, PPC Search Engine Manager and Monitoring. These
additional tools will also help you improve your web site.
Step 4 - Submit your project to hundreds of search engines and
directories
Once you have optimized your web
page you can start submitting it to search engines and directories
to increase your web page visibility and PageRank. By submitting to
directories you get inbound links easily, you will obtain a
permanent
one-way link from every directory,
improving your Google PageRank and your search engine ranking.
Active WebTraffic includes two different submission modules:
Automatic and Semiautomatic modules.
From the option
Submission Tools
select
Auto Submit.
The search engines included on this database
do not require a category
selection and accept automated submissions. The submission form is
very simple.

First tick the checkbox next to the project URL you want to submit
to the search engines.
Click on the
Engines Tab
to access to the automatic search engine database.
From the
Tools button you can
easily Expand and Collapsed
the database, check and uncheck
search engines by
country, language,
domains accepted,
search engine type,
if
adult websites
are accepted or requires a
reciprocal link.
You can also enter your own notes for a particular search engine.
The
Status
option of each search engine allows you track your submissions and
registrations easily:
submission approved, not registered yet, rejected, never
submit and try later.
From the Tools button you can also submit manually
to a particular search engine, Active WebTraffic connects to the
search engine submission form in a new browser window allowing you
to submit manually or make a search by domain to know if your web
page is listed.
Once your web page is listed, it is not necessary to submit
again unless you make important changes to your web page.

The user interface allows you to sort the database easily by
clicking on a column header. For instance, if you want
to start submitting to the search engines with the lowest Alexa rank,
just click on the Alexa name of the Alexa column and the program
will sort the engines by this field.
Select the automatic search engines you want to submit to from the
Tools button and use the Check Engines option or select them manually by ticking the checkbox next to
each search engine.
Start the Auto Submitter by clicking on GO Auto Submit.
Active WebTraffic will submit your project to the selected search
engines. When the submission is finished the Status field and
Submission date will be updated.
If you make any changes on the search engine status or enter any
notes, click the Save button located on the project
settings screen.
You can generate a Submission Report from Project Settings ->
Report. Select the Last Submission Report
option and the Report Type: HTML, email or text.
Indicate the folder where you want to save your future reports (by
default this folder is located under your windows user documents
User\Documents\Active WebTraffic\YourReports).
Enter the rest of the information, your personal information and
your client's information.
Click on Go Generate Report. Active WebTraffic will show the
report in a new window.

From the
Submission Tools
option select
Semi Submitter.
The search engines and directories included on the semiautomatic
database do not accept automated submissions because they have a
complex submission form, require to navigate to the correct
category, require to create a user account or have a CAPTCHA
(Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers
and Humans Apart) code.

To submit your project to a semiautomatic search engine or
directory, double click on the search engine name and Active
WebTraffic will load the search engine submission form on its
internal browser window. Sometimes you will have to navigate to the correct
category and subcategory before you can submit, in other cases the
submission form is immediate and you have to select the category
from a drop down list.
The
AutoFill option
makes the submission process incredibly easy and fast, saving you
hours of your time instead of re-typing your web page details for
every directory. Active WebTraffic fills out the submission form and
you just have to select the best category for your
website and enter the CAPTCHA code if needed. The semiautomatic
submission process is accurate, without possible
submission errors since it is exactly as a manual submission.
Select all the search engines to which you want to submit to using
the semiautomatic mode by ticking the checkbox next to each search
engine. You can also select a set of search engines easily
by right clicking on a search engine and using the Check Engines
option.
Double click on the first search engine selected and Active
WebTraffic will load the submission form on its internal browser and autofill it.
If a field of the submission form has not been completed (empty
field) from the Tools button you can click on the name of the field
missing to automatically fill it.
Choose the category and enter the CAPTCHA code if necessary.
Click on the submit button on the submission form to finish the
submission.
Select the next engine using the browser's right arrow to load the
next search engine.
If you have turned on the Variants of titles and description
function, Active WebTraffic will rotate these
fields. You can also use this option manually from the Tools
button.
As in the automatic mode, by clicking on the Tools button you
can change the search engine Status (Set Search Engine Status option) at your convenience. You can also right click on a
particular search engine to change the Status.
After your web page has been submitted, you will begin to receive email
confirmations from search engines and directories (not all of them
send an email confirmation). You can assign a new status to a
particular search engine, if the submission has been approved you
can change the status to Submission Approved. For those
search engines that do not send an email confirmation you should
wait one or two months and then make a search by domain to check if
your website has been listed. If it has not been accepted submit
again.
Active WebTraffic allows you to add
your own search engines and directories to the submission database.
To add a new search engine to the semiautomatic database click on
the Add User Semi-Engines
button located on the semiautomatic module.
Click on the New Engine
icon and enter the name of the new
search engine, the main web page and the web page that includes the
submission form.

Clic on
Run Wizard.
Indicate the correct
Form to
extract the fields from (sometimes there is more than one form,
such us a search form, a register form and the add url form).
Click on
Next. The submission form fields extracted must match Active WebTraffic's
fields. In some cases not all the fields are necessary and you need
to know basic HTML code to understand the submission form if it is
complex.
If the field of the submission form is not necessary (a character
counter, checkbox, reciprocal link text) select the option "not
necessary to insert".
If the field of the
submission form has to be selected manually select the option
"select value manually"

Once all the fields have been entered click on
Save to
add the new search engine to the semiautomatic database.
You can use the
Scheduler to
submit to the automatic search engines on a specific date. If you
have multiple projects to be submitted
you can add them to the scheduler and indicate when you want to
submit them. Do not use the scheduler to constantly submit to the
search engines since it is not necessary.
The Google Sitemap
module creates an XML sitemap that can be submitted to Google and
other search engines that use the standard XML
protocol (Yahoo, Bing and Ask) to give detailed information about your website: which
pages are present, which are the most important pages and how often
they are updated. The Sitemap does not affect your rankings but
allows Google to crawl your website accordingly. Obviously if you
use a Google sitemap it is not necessary to submit your website to
Google since it will be automatically crawled.
How to create the Sitemap file
Click on the Google Sitemap button.
Click on Spider URLs to create a complete sitemap of your
website.
Enter the full http address for your website.
Indicate the number of Maximum Link and Levels for Spider
to start crawling your website.

You can add optional filters on the Allowed and
Disallowed Tabs, entering a particular web page, file
extensions you do not want to crawl, special forms, etc.
Enter the default Priority and Frequency. The
Priority signals the importance of individual pages in the website.
The priority of your most important page should be 1. High
priority values get crawled more often. You can assign the Priority
by default by ticking the Set Automatically checkbox. The
priority will be calculated based on the web page level or depth.
Assign the Frequency by default depending on how often your
website is updated.

Click on the Spider URLs button to start crawling your
website.
Once you have finished crawling your website you can Edit the
frequency and priority of each page individually at your
convenience.

Click on the Generate Google SiteMap File button. The .XML
file will be generated and you will be able to see the source code.
Click on Save to save the sitemap file on a local folder such
us googlesitemap.xml.
Upload the file to your server and follow the sitemap instructions
on your Google Webmaster Central account.
From the Go Submit Sitemap button you can
access to your Google account.
Step 5
-
Check your Rankings on the most important search engines
Check your search engine rankings to verify the position you have
reached for your most relevant keywords.
Enter the web page http:// address for which you want to perform the
ranking check (specify the exact URL).
Select the position from 1 to 200
Add your keywords or import them from the project settings
Select the search engines and click on
Check my Ranking.

Active WebTraffic will display the results on a new window by
search engine, keyword and status. Depending on how many search
engines you have selected and number of keywords it can take some
time.

You can sort the results by clicking on the column header.
You can export the results to an Excel file so that you can work in
external applications such as MS Excel. Click on the Export
to Excel button, enter the field name (such us rank_feb12)
and choose the location to which the file will be exported.

You can also view ranking statistics overtime by clicking on
View Ranking Stats.
You can create multiple statistics by different keywords, a
particular search engine or various search engines and time period.
Each search engine is displayed in a different color to keep track
of your submissions easily.

Ranking Reports: Select the option Project Settings ->
Reports to generate a ranking report for your own
use or to send to your clients.
Choose the option Ranking Report and select the
Report Type: HTML, email or text.
Indicate the folder where you want to save your future reports (by
default this folder is located under your windows user documents
User\Documents\Active WebTraffic\YourReports).
Enter your personal information and
your client's information.
Click on Go Generate Report. Active WebTraffic will show the
report in a new window or send it by email.
You can also generate other reports for your personal analysis or to
send to your customers: Full Report, Project Data
Report, Search Engine and Directory List Report, Last Submission
Report
and Keyword Density Analyzer Report.
Enjoy your
software! Have a good web promotion!
