Questions about how to use the software?
Active Search Engine is intuitive and easy to use. Enter the demo area and use the software yourself. Act as a search engine administrator or be a search engine user. We know you will be surprised by its many features and powerful interface. There is no better way to learn than actually using it and you can perform all Active Search Engine functions from the demo area.

Can I install the software on more than one server or hosting account?
No, your license allows you to install a single instance of Active Search Engine per domain and web server, so if you plan to install or run more than one search engine per domain or install on several domains you need to purchase more licenses. Examples of single instances are: http://mydomain1.com and http://mydomain2.com and so on (you will need one license per domain even if they are located on the same web server). Other examples will be http://mydomain/searchengine1 and http://mydomain.com/searchengine2 etc. (you will need one license per search engine even if they are located on the same domain).
If you plan on purchasing multi-license packages please contact Myrasoft sales team. There is special pricing available for companies purchasing five or more licenses.

Are updates included with my purchase?
Yes, updates within the same version such as 2.0 to 2.x are included free of charge. When a new major version is released such as 3.0 existing users will be offered a special upgrade price to the new release. To check what updates are available click on Check Version and on Available Upgrades from your search engine Administration area.

How do I open an account with Google Adsense to show Google Ads?
It's easy. Just click on the button below to apply for an account directly with Google.

When you are approved you can start earning revenue from Google Ads displayed on your search engine right away.

Can I install the software in a Unix server or Unix hosting account?
No, Active Search Engine was designed to run on MS-Windows servers running IIS (Internet Information Server). Active Search Engine is a dynamic ASP (Active Server Pages) web application and although it could run on some Unix or Linux servers which have asp simulators installed we strongly recommend to use a Windows server. A windows hosting account is available everywhere at affordable prices from most hosting providers these days and will secure the full functionality of Active Search Engine.

Does my Windows hosting account or domain name need to be fully dedicated to Active Search Engine?
No, Active Search Engine can perfectly coexist with your existing web site and web pages. In fact you can install all Active Search Engine software on a dedicated folder such as http://mydomain.com/activesearchengine. You just upload all Active Search Engine application files to any folder on your web server and it will not interfere with any of your existing web pages.

What is the difference between the Access and the SQL version?
Active Search Engine for Access and Active Search Engine for SQL include exactly the same functionality with all features included for both. The difference resides rather on the performance of Access versus SQL databases themselves. You can select one version or the other depending on the number of simultaneous users that you plan will be accessing your web site at any given time. While Microsoft Access and JET databases will perform well for medium sized sites (up to hundreds of simultaneous users performing the same function such as adding a listing at the same time) when the number of simultaneous users starts to get large (thousands to millions of simultaneous users performing the same function at the same time) SQL will perform much better. The Access version will support sites with thousands of visitors and will be more than enough for most sites, while the SQL version supports millions of visitors without slowing down the search engine speed. Do I need to purchase the MS-Access or SQL database products in addition to Active Search Engine?
No, Active Search Engine comes already with an Access database preconfigured to work with both Active Search Engine versions. If you purchase Active Search Engine for SQL, you will need access to an SQL database on your server which is provided by your web hosting vendor (normally included for all windows hosting accounts).

How do I upgrade from Active Search Engine for Access to SQL?
Just purchase the Active Search Engine Access to SQL upgrade item from our online ordering section. Our Active Search Engine SQL scripts will get your SQL database setup. Note that if you want to keep your existing search engine data, the Access database will need to be migrated into your new server SQL database. Microsoft SQL databases come with a wizard that help you import any Access database including Active Search Engine databases. Please read the section Appendix A Migrating from Access to SQL in & Active Search Engine Manual for more information. You can access the complete manual from our help section. Myrasoft also provides services for data migration. Please contact our sales team and let us know your database size for a quote on database migration.

Do you support MySQL databases?
We are currently testing Active Search Engine using MySQL databases. However at this time it is strongly recommended that you use a Microsoft SQL Server 2000, SQL Server 2005 or higher database which is the one provided for most windows hosting accounts.

Do you provide the source code with the application?
The actual engine source code is not provided. The code has been compiled to run faster on windows servers so you will find most Active Search Engine ASP application files encoded for compilation. Some functions source code is available but not the heart of the application engine. All language and configuration files source is provided so you can modify and edit them freely. All search engine content, text and logos are editable and can be modified by the search engine administrator. If you are a developer and need access to a specific application source code please contact our support team.

Can I remove the links to Myrasoft from the search engine?
Yes, absolutely. It's your search engine and you decide what to place on it. Some of our customers keep an affiliate link to our site, but it's up to you. The default Active Search Engine logos can be easily replaced by your own logos. In fact all search engine content can be freely edited by the search engine administrator.

I get the following error when running Active Search Engine. What can I do?
