About
the trial version
The shareware version will let you work
your way through the program features including the media contact
database and submit your press releases to
a test email address (your own email address). Emailing
media contacts, generating reports, label printing and exporting
contacts can only be performed with the registered version of the
software.
To use all the
Active MediaMagnet powerful features you must register your
trial version through our online order processing system.
Will I receive free updates to the program?
Yes, all updates to the
software, i.e. version 5.1, 5.2 etc. are free for the lifetime of the product.
When we release a new major version such as 6.0 existing users
will be offered and upgrade for a special reduced price.
How
current is the database and how do I update it?
The
Active MediaMagnet
database is updated every six months approximately. Your first update is
included with your initial purchase.
Standard Edition
users may purchase subsequent updates
at any time for a small fee per update. The last update always contains all changes and
additions included in previous updates so that your
database always contains the latest media contact information
regardless of when you purchase. There are no monthly fees or
subscriptions, you simply elect when you need to update. The
update process is available from the 'Updates' menu option located
on the software itself.
Professional Edition users have access to unlimited free database
updates for the lifetime of the product.
Can
I install the software on more than one computer?
No,
the software license agreement is for one single user and one
single computer only. If you wish to install it on more than one
computer you should buy additional licenses. The
registration
number is unique for your single user license
and
if the software is installed on more than one computer it will be
automatically disabled. If your registration key has become
unusable or is not working please contact our
support team.
How many
contacts are included in the main database?
Can
I add or delete my own contacts?
Active MediaMagnet's
media contact database contains over 33,000 targeted publishers,
editors, writers and more. This is a very complete database and
includes the same media contacts that professional press release
service companies use for their customers.
We have made adding and removing contacts from the database very
easy. To exclude an address from your sending list go to: 'Settings'
and then 'Remove Email'.
Once you've done this it will be permanently excluded from your
database sending mail queue.
We ask that if any media contact asks you to do this, that you do
as they request.
You can also easily add, edit, delete and import your own media contacts to "My
Contacts" database. The exclusive import feature makes adding
your existing database of contacts, even when it is in another
program, a very easy and powerful
process.
How often should I submit my Press
Release?
We suggest submitting your Release
ONCE, per new announcement. This is NOT a SPAM tool and should
never be utilized as such. Submitting your Release should be to a
targeted audience who would have an interest in what you’re
promoting. For example sending a press release related to a new
technology in aviation to the media related only with agriculture does not have any sense and will not be very
useful. Be
smart and send only to the media types that apply for your press
release!
I am a member of the Media and would
like to receive Press Releases via Active MediaMagnet. How do I go about this?
Simply send us an
email and let us know your contact information including name and
e-mail, media type, name of publication and its category. Once the process is completed we
will get you added right away.
I am interested in adding new
publications that target my market to the Active MediaMagnet contact database. Will you do
it?
You may add any new
contact at any time by yourself to the 'My Contacts' database and then
use it for your press releases campaigns. If you want your contacts
to be added to the main database simply send an email to our
press team and let us know the names of the publications and its
categories and any other contact information you may have. We will contact the publication
and once the process is completed we will get it added right away.
How do I activate the
full registered version features?
If you should decide
that Active MediaMagnet will be a valuable part of your internet publicity and promotion
toolbox, we've made
registration
fast, easy, and affordable.
The trial version can be unlocked into a full licensed version by just
entering the registration key. The
registration key is the code that you received when you purchased Active MediaMagnet
through our online order processing system.
Can
I attach photo's to my release?
Attaching pictures to email is
very much frowned upon by most editors. When you attach a picture
to an email, it takes a lot of time to download and the editors
get frustrated with this.
What editors prefer is a hyperlink in your release to either a
photo on your website, or a photo somewhere else on the Internet.
For example, a line like this included in your release would be
appropriate:

http://www.somesite.com/yourimage.jpg
A
pop up window launches when I am sending a press release and asks
me for a local SMTP server. What should I enter?
The
software is configured by default to send press releases using the
SMTP server of the recipient. This essentially
allows
the application to act as its own email server.
If this sending method fails the program automatically asks you to
use your own email server. You may also change the configuration
under the Settings/Preferences Menu. Just enter the enter
your SMTP (mail server) information, typically something like:
mail.yourisp.com (this
is the same server as you have configured on your other email
client applications such as Outllook or Eudora)
and leave the smtp port set to 25 as the
default. If you do not know which is your smtp server you
will need to contact your ISP and ask them. If the application
hangs when sending a press release we recommend to change the
sending method directly in the Settings area of the program and
restart it. The program will remember where it left off and will
continue to send from the last contact using the new sending
method. Please note it is not recommended to read or send emails
with other email clients simultaneously and at the same time that
Active MediaMagnet is sending a press release since, on some
computers, this may cause the program to hang.
My registration
number will not unlock the program.
Your
registration number is unique for your
license
and should correctly
unlock the program. Be sure that you enter all the data as indicated to you by our
processing system. If Active MediaMagnet detects the same user
license running at the same time by different users it may disable
your registration key. Contact our
support team.
Do you ship the program
on disk?
No, everything is handled
electronically. Our program is updated frequently to keep pace with the ever changing
marketing world on the net. If we put a copy on disk, it would be outdated almost
immediately. Anytime you
download a copy of
Active MediaMagnet
and
enter your exclusive user license registration codes, you will have a full
version. So, as long as you keep a copy of the
codes, you will never have to worry about "losing" the program.
I tried to run the downloaded exe
file, but my computer says it is not a valid file or the installation does not complete.
You probably got cutoff before the download
completed. Check that the file size is the same as indicated on our download site. If it
is smaller, you need to try downloading it again and make sure it completes. We've got
hundreds downloading it successfully daily so it *should* work. Active MediaMagnet is WELL
worth the effort and it's the kind product that pays for itself very quickly.
